One language... one world

I am sure you have wondered like I do sometimes, what would it be like to have a single language that might become the means of unifying the world.

A language that is not biased because it was created or nurtured in a particular culture or region.

A language not tainted by ethnic or other considerstions.
A language that reflects the expressiveness of Spanish while retaining the logical simplicity of the grammar of Sanskrit.
A language that would be easy to learn for everyone...

There is such a language... well at least there is a language created keeping similar ideals in mind...

It is called Esperanto.

Believe it or not, as is the case for everything else a quick check of Wharton student body reveals that there is one person who is fluent in this language!

and a semester is almost over... I cannot believe that my last post was more than 3 months ago.

Well, we have a nice group of runners forming here. People are training for the upcoming race in Philly. So last weekend when I noticed some other Whartonites who do not usually run with us, I started telling them about this group.

Having done a marathon and a couple of halfs, I am always keen to know about other folks who might be training for similar events and with whom I could find synergy for regular training. So I inquired - "I run 10 minute a mile, how about you guys?". My jaw dropped when one of them humbly replied, I am not so much into long distance running but I used to do shorter runs before. My best was 4:15 a mile.

4:15 a mile!

And here I am dreaming of someday running a 6 minute mile.

ADITL

Came across ADITL - A day in the life of MIT.

They describe the project as:

"About the event and site On April 21, 2005, over one hundred people from the MIT community documented a single day in photographs. Together they took more than six-thousand pictures in the twenty-four hour period. ADITL.mit.edu Is a collective photo blog of sorts, and is the repository for these photographs.

ADITL is sponsored by Technique, the yearbook of MIT"

This sounded like a exciting idea, one that I would like to try out at Wharton or maybe later in any start-up I do. In the company setting it could be a fun team building exercise. With the proliferation of digital cameras and availability of internal portals it should be relatively economical to execute as well.
